Meat Sauce for Spagetti
Ingredients
1 large Onion
4 cloves of garlic
1kg minced meat
5 fresh bay leaves
1 teaspoon oregano
3x 440gm tin tomatoes pureed
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
grinds of pepper
2 cubes meat stock in 1/2 cup hot water
140gm tomato paste
1 dessertspoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
Method
Saute onion in butter and olive oil mix under low heat i.e. in pot with lid on and stirring constantly for about 8 minutes. When cooked add crushed garlic and salt. Stir for 2 minutes add meat turn up heat and stir constantly until meat browns. Add crushed tomatoes tomato paste, pepper, bay leaves, meat stock, sugar, oregano. Stir under high heat until just boiling then turn heat to low and simmer for ¾ hour.
